I have this new guilty pleasure–watching YouTube tutorial videos.
I’ve been watching them nonstop, back to back, mostly late at night. (Really late… like from 11pm to 2am… I think my husband thought I was developing a porn addiction!)
It started out simple enough; I wanted to learn some new hairstyles for my preteen daughter before school started. Now, however, it’s ballooned into watching makeup tutorials and Japanese underground scene fashion tutorials. The thing is, I’m fascinated by how these people just put themselves out there.
You have 11-12 year old girls teaching you how they style their hair in the mornings and 17 year olds showing you how to style a white t-shirt 332 ways… I’m amazed and flabbergasted at their audacity, their confidence, and their courage.
I mean, putting yourself out there on YouTube is not a faint-hearted move. You might go by an alias, but it’s still your face… it’s still recognizably YOU. When someone leaves a nasty comment, they’re aiming it directly at YOU.
So, I watch these videos and I think these young women have serious balls. Or amazing blinders.
Either way… I want that.
I wonder if there’s a video tutorial for it?

Hi Shauntelle, I came to your website via Puttylike and glad I did
Funny, you mention watching YouTube tutorial vodeos, because that’s something I have found that I really love lately too. I have been watching WordPress tutorials (plugins for e-commerce solutions). Anyhow just thought I would say hi
Hi Lori!
I never thought I’d EVER say this, but YouTube is my new favorite place to learn new things… it’s perfect for people like us who are always adding to the knowledge base! Glad you dropped by to say hello.
Hello Shauntelle, you don’t know me, just wandered in from a link on Studio 30+. glad i did.
